about

In the 1930’s Professor Mark Ronan follows the mathematical journey to North America. Germany, which had become the centre of mathematical excellence, was stripped of much of its talent when the Nazis forced Jewish academics to join the diaspora or face far worse consequences. One of them was Richard Brauer, who went first to Toronto and then to Harvard, where he influenced a new generation of mathematicians, both in his adopted country, as well as Great Britain and Yugoslavia. The chase was speeding up as the 21st century approached.
